Accrotool, Inc.

History

Accrotool, Inc., was founded in 1972 as Accro Tool Enterprises, Inc. Tool and die makers Bill Phillips and Van Gruber purchased two used machines and began making dies for manufacturing companies near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company’s location in a heavy industrial area provided ready markets and access to special services such as heat treating and plating.

In 1985 Accro Tool Enterprises expanded into CNC production machining, sheet metal fabrication and stamping. Another major expansion in 1995 took the company into CNC punching and laser cutting. In 2003 a four head water jet cutting machine was acquired. That same year Van Gruber sold his share of the company to SPEDD, Inc. Bill Phillips remained as the company’s President and CEO. With the involvement of SPEDD, Inc., the company was restructured for growth and renamed Accrotool, Inc.

In 2005 the AccroTECH Division of Accrotool, Inc., was established In Leechburg, PA, to address growing demand for formed and machined components for weapons and communications systems. AccroTECH personnel are qualified to provide the special requirements for MILSPEC coatings, certified welding and documented processes that are required by first tier contractors to government agencies. Standard commercial products continue to be produced in Accrotool’s New Kensington, PA, facility.

In the years since its inception, Accrotool has grown to employ over 150 people in two modern facilities comprising over 82,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
